2016 Annual NYSCATE Conference

The Inquiry Design Model (IDM) allows students to investigate historical events through a critical lens while simultaneously increasing their level of engagement, comprehension of material, and honing the highly sought after 21st Century workplace skills they need. Using Schoology and Google Drive to take inquiries online removes the walls from the classroom while allowing access to a huge variety of source material while promoting collaboration between students and the outside world. Participants will identify benefits of utilizing Schoology, Chromebooks, and Google Drive to create and facilitate online historical inquiries Participants will identify student engagement strategies to utilize with the blended learning style of interactive inquiries Participants will view authentic data collected comparing student achievement levels between traditional instructional models and interactive inquiries Middle Teacher/Staff, Secondary Teacher/Staff, Home School
