Privacy and security of student, teacher and administrative data is paramount in the ever expanding world of educational technology. It is estimated that there are over 3,500 educational software applications in the market and it keeps growing. The 12 Regional Information Centers and the New York State Education Department have come together to develop and deliver a family of services that provide K-12 districts with data integration and single sign on capabilities, all while ensuring the security and privacy of student data. This session will provide information on Education Law 2d, the Parents' Bill of Rights for Data Privacy, best practices for data privacy and security and an overview of the RIC One family of services. The objective of the session is to provide administrators with a better understanding of the services available through their Regional Information Center that focus on protecting student data while providing safe, efficient means to integrate data and facilitate learning.Administrative,Technical (IT),Technology Integration Coordinator, Board of Education, Community Member
