In order to assure all students are college and career ready, schools support their students academically, socially and emotionally to engage them in the global community. This session explores a design based approach to learning and leadership as a means to innovate, promote identity and voice. Participants will explore mindsets, methods, case studies and implications for learners and leaders utilizing a design based approach. Technology tools which support a design based ecosystem and equity, including collaboration, curation and analytic tools will be identified and expanded in the group session. This session serves as a concrete exemplar of how to place students in the center of our changing learning ecosystem, and provide opportunities for leaders to reflect on how to support innovative, collaborative spaces. This session will: -Identify a collective problem and aim, suggesting design based learning and critical leadership as potential strategies -Provide an overview of the key characteristics of a design based thinking -Explore the concept of growth mindset - Provide an overview of the key characteristics of critical leadership -Identify technology supports and discuss strategies that frame and facilitate the learning ecosystem -Provide opportunity to reflect on how to establish and support a design based approach Middle Teacher/Staff, Secondary Teacher/Staff, Librarian/Media Specialist,Administrative,Staff Development Coordinators, Higher Education, Community Member
