Augmented realities (AR) for learning use mobile, context-aware technologies (e.g., smartphones, tablets) that enable participants to interact with digital information embedded within the physical setting. This session discusses current uses of AR in education, via case studies of three projects that span learning in both formal and informal environments (i.e., schools, universities, museums, parks, zoos). The session will also show teachers how they and their students can use inquiry and creativity to design and use augmented reality as an engaging medium for learning. An additional feature is that this learning will occur in student's€™ own neighborhoods and community settings.€¢ Gaining insights into Augmented Reality€™s (AR) potential for engaging students with local history, as well as other curricular areas that draw on real world settings • Experiencing case studies of AR learning experiences that links classroom instruction, students'€™ lives, and the local community • Learning strategies for how to design and develop educational AR for various subject areas and grade levels Elementary Teacher/Staff, Middle Teacher/Staff, Secondary Teacher/Staff
