Research shows that game-based learning and gamification improve motivation and engagement within the classroom. However, there are a lot of misconceptions around what constitutes game-based learning and what constitutes gamification. In this session, we will examine the differences between game-based learning and gamification as well as the benefits and challenges of using these strategies in the classroom. Together we will explore two examples of how to effectively integrate game-based learning and gamification into the classroom and then you will have the opportunity to apply this process to your own teaching practice (BYOD).Educators will be able to differentiate between game-based learning and gamification. Educators will be able to understand some of the benefits and challenges of implementing game-based learning and gamification into their classroom. Educators will work through some examples of integrating game – based learning and gamification into the classroom and have the opportunity to collaboratively apply this to their own teaching practice.Elementary Teacher/Staff,Middle Teacher/Staff,Secondary Teacher/Staff,Technology Integration Coordinator
