Learn to combine best practices of technology integration with best practices in teaching students with reading difficulties to decode and comprehend texts effectively. Participants will gain hands-on experience using free built-in tools, apps, sites, and add-ons to differentiate their reading instruction to help all learners. Most beneficial for ELA and content area teachers, 4th-9th grade. This presentation will prepare teachers to differentiate previously taught lessons, and create new lessons that support all types of learners, including those with Specific Learning Disabilities, such as dyslexia. Technology is essential to meaningfully differentiate, thus each tool that is referenced will be a technological tool. Using technology engages students, and it helps them learn more deeply than through traditional means. Perhaps most importantly, the majority of the tools mentioned are ones that students can use on their own, which means these tools can support students to lead independent lives, despite having difficulties with reading.
